How to open a metal filing cabinet without a key?

1. Carefully examine the structure of the cabinet door. (If you still have the key to the same cabinet or door, you're in luck.) Insert a flat-blade screwdriver into the keyhole and twist it firmly in the direction you normally open the door, usually clockwise. After a few movements, the file cabinet is not a safe. Most cabinets should be able to open at this point. If the keyhole still won't budge, try a larger flat-blade screwdriver. This way, you can open the door with maximum force.

2. Look at where the lock pin of the filing cabinet is, carefully observe how the cabinet door is locked, and then knock it experimentally. The purpose of knocking is to open the cabinet door. It is best not to damage the cabinet body.

3. If it still doesn't open, try looking for the key. If you find it, that's great! Congratulations! You can open it now. Otherwise, please refer to step 4.

4. Use an electric drill to slowly drill through the lock core. Note that the cabinet body is easily deformed. Considering that the steel filing cabinet can be reused after opening, you should proceed slowly. After opening, you can find a replacement lock at a locksmith or hardware store.

5. Pin + wire hook. This method requires certain skills. First, use the pin to pin the lock core, then use a wire hook with an arc at the front end to reach in and pull it back and forth. Some are double-sided and need to be pulled up and down. When opening, it is important to note that the pin should not be used too hard, just pin it. 6. Contact the manufacturer to solve the problem. In fact, many file cabinets now have a management key, commonly known as a master key. If you are not sure, you can contact the manufacturer and ask a professional master to come to your home to unlock it, re-key it, or replace the lock cylinder.
