In our daily life, fabric sofas are just like the clothes we wear, which are made of various fabrics. Fabric sofas made of different fabrics also have their own characteristics. Let's take a look at the fabrics of fabric sofas and what characteristics each fabric has.
Cotton: It is a fiber taken from cotton seeds, which is picked, ginned, carded, slivered, combed, woolen spun, and then woven into cotton cloth from cotton yarn.
Advantages: High moisture absorption capacity. Cotton fibers are porous, with irregular molecular arrangement and a high concentration of hydrophilic structures. Warmth: Cotton fibers are poor conductors of heat, and their inner cavities are filled with stagnant air. Comfortable, static-free, breathable, hypoallergenic, and easy to clean. Fabric sofa manufacturers often use cotton as the fabric, resulting in fabric sofas that are both warm and comfortable.
Disadvantages: Easy to wrinkle, cotton fiber has poor elasticity. Large shrinkage rate, cotton fiber has strong water absorption, when it absorbs water, the cotton fiber expands, causing the cotton yarn to shorten and deform.
Polyester-cotton blend: refers to the general term for blended fabrics of polyester and cotton, which are textiles woven by mixing polyester and cotton yarns in a certain proportion.
Features: It combines the style of polyester with the strengths of cotton. It exhibits excellent elasticity and abrasion resistance in both wet and dry conditions, is dimensionally stable, and exhibits minimal shrinkage. It is upright, wrinkle-resistant, easy to wash, and dries quickly. However, it should not be ironed at high temperatures or soaked in boiling water. Living room fabric sofas often use polyester-cotton blends, which offer excellent elasticity and abrasion resistance.
Nylon: The scientific name is polyamide fiber, which is a general term for polyamide fibers produced in China. It is also called "nylon" or "nylon".
Advantages: Excellent abrasion resistance, the highest of all fibers. Its abrasion resistance is 10 times that of cotton fiber and 10 times that of dry viscose fiber. Therefore, it is extremely durable. Nylon fabric has excellent elasticity and recovery. Disadvantages: Poor ventilation and air permeability, prone to static electricity. For small-sized fabric sofas, cotton and linen fabrics are best for comfort and excellent wear resistance.
Polyester (synthetic fiber): Usually made of high molecular compounds, also called polyester fiber.
Advantages: high strength, strong wear resistance, good elasticity, strong heat resistance. Relatively low price.
Disadvantages: There is a lack of hydrophilic structure between molecules, so the hygroscopicity is extremely poor and the air permeability is also poor.
