Let's talk about shelf selection and placement, store layout, and creating an attractive commercial space.
What's the ideal height for a clothing store checkout counter? Based on my over ten years of experience providing supporting facilities for clothing stores, I've summarized a point of view. It may not be suitable for every clothing store, but it's still worth considering.
I've talked to many clothing store owners, and some of them have specific requirements for the height of the checkout counter when purchasing display shelves. However, most of them are considering things from their own perspective, such as:
1. They or their cashiers are short, so they want the checkout counter to be lower.
2. They need to protect the privacy and financial security of cashiers, so they want the checkout counter to be as high as possible.
3. Considering feng shui, they want the checkout counter height to be an auspicious number, such as 108cm or 118cm.
They also have various other reasons and opinions, all presented in a seemingly reasonable manner.
Perhaps they all have some merit, but there's one crucial point: they're all only considering things from their own perspective. When running a store and serving customers, we need to consider things from their point of view.
1. Clothing Store Cashier Counter Too High
A cashier counter that's too high can make customers feel shut out. They might feel inferior while paying, as if the cashier is looking down on them, hindering communication. Customers might think, "I won't come back; I'm not here to get free clothes."
2. Clothing Store Cashier Counter Too Low
A cashier counter that's too low means customers can't see behind it while checking out. It feels like they're being invaded, and they don't know where to look, making the whole checkout process awkward. Customers just want to pay and leave quickly.
3. Clothing Store Cashier Counter Height Should Be Moderate
So, what's the ideal height for a clothing store cashier counter? Based on average human height, a cash register height of 110cm to 120cm is suitable for clothing stores.
A height lower than 110cm, and sometimes even as low as 80cm, is less suitable. This height is more appropriate for convenience stores and supermarkets, but not for clothing stores.
A cash register height higher than 120cm is too high. This height might be suitable for pawn shops, but not for clothing stores.
The above are just my personal observations on cash register height based on my work experience. If you are currently struggling with the cash register height for your clothing store, you can refer to this information, but you should also consider the actual situation of your store.
Do you think a higher or lower cash register is better for a clothing store? What height do you find suitable in actual use? Feel free to share your thoughts.
