Summer is just around the corner, and temperatures are gradually rising. While we focus on sun protection for ourselves, let's not forget to protect our furniture and home furnishings from the sun to maintain their appearance and extend their lifespan. Here are some tips for protecting your furniture from the sun.
Sofa: Cover with a sofa cover or bamboo mat
Whether it's a leather or fabric sofa, avoid direct sunlight. When placing a leather or fabric sofa in the living room, try to avoid positioning it near a balcony or window. If possible, place a highly absorbent sofa cover or a bamboo mat that won't scratch the sofa surface on a modern minimalist fabric sofa. This will not only absorb sweat but also reduce moisture on the furniture surface, making cleaning easier. If it gets dirty, simply wash the sofa cover or bamboo mat.
Coffee table: Avoid direct sunlight.
The best placement for a coffee table in the living room is away from direct sunlight. Prolonged exposure to sunlight can cause white paint to yellow, colored paint to fade, and metal parts to oxidize and become brittle. Additionally, glass coffee tables should be kept away from moisture, stoves, and acids, alkalis, and other chemicals to prevent corrosion and deterioration.
Solid wood furniture: Avoid direct airflow from air conditioners.
While air conditioning can cool the room, it can also dry out the indoor air. Many homes have floor-standing air conditioners located in the living room or dining room, and often solid wood furniture is placed in the direction the air conditioner blows directly. If furniture is constantly exposed to the air conditioner's airflow, the paint and wood may dry out and change, which is why many solid wood furniture pieces crack "silently."
