1. There are currently two types of solid wood office furniture. Traditional solid wood office furniture generally does not have a paint layer on the surface, only a hot wax coating. Newly manufactured solid wood office furniture has a protective lacquer or clear varnish finish. The maintenance methods for solid wood office furniture with different treatments differ.
2. Solid wood contains moisture. When the air humidity is too low, solid wood office furniture will shrink, and when it is too high, it will expand. Generally, solid wood office furniture has expansion and contraction layers during production. However, care should be taken when using and placing it. Do not place it in places that are too humid or too dry, such as near stoves, heaters or other high-temperature and high-heat areas, or in excessively humid basements, to avoid mold and cracking.
3. Hot cups and similar items should not be placed directly on office furniture surfaces, as they will leave marks that are difficult to remove. Colored liquids, such as ink, should be absolutely avoided from being spilled on the table.
4. When moving or transporting solid wood office furniture, handle it gently and avoid pulling or dragging it to prevent damage to the mortise and tenon structure. Do not lift desks and chairs by the tabletop, as this can cause them to detach. Instead, lift from the sides of the desk and the seat of the chair. For filing cabinets, it is best to remove the doors before lifting to reduce weight and prevent the doors from slipping. If you need to move particularly heavy office furniture, use soft ropes to lift it from under the chassis before moving it.
5. Avoid placing excessively heavy items, especially fish tanks, on the surface of solid wood office furniture for extended periods, as this can cause the furniture to warp. Do not cover office desks with non-breathable materials such as plastic sheets.
6. If the floor in the room is uneven, it will cause the office furniture to deform over time. The way to avoid this is to use small pieces of wood to level it.
7. Never wipe solid wood office furniture with a wet or rough cloth. Use a clean, soft, pure cotton cloth, and after a while, add a small amount of office furniture wax or walnut oil, and gently wipe back and forth along the wood grain.
8. Avoid rubbing the surface of solid wood office furniture against hard objects to prevent damage to the paint and wood grain. Be especially careful when placing decorative items such as porcelain or bronze, and it is best to place a soft cloth underneath.
9. Avoid placing office furniture in front of large south-facing windows. Long-term direct sunlight will make the office furniture too dry and cause it to fade.
