Starting March 29th, four households in two residential areas of Jinshui District were burglarized in succession. The brazen thieves even stole the entire safes from the victims' homes, resulting in losses of tens of thousands of yuan. Fortunately, justice prevailed, and within just 45 hours, the two suspects, Li and Zhu, were apprehended by the police. This incident raises a question about why the safes were stolen entirely. Safes are supposed to be the last line of defense for a home's valuables, impenetrable by even the most skilled guards. How could thieves have succeeded so easily? According to the two suspects, on the evening of March 26th, around 9 PM, Li and Zhu broke into a home in a residential area of Jinshui District. They pushed the entire safe to the first floor, pried it open, and stole gold and silver jewelry worth over 30,000 yuan. From this, we can see two problems: first, the safe was easily moved from its original location; second, the safe was ultimately pried open. This actually exposes two problems with the product itself: first, the product was not securely fixed during installation, thus failing to provide the first layer of protection. Secondly, its anti-theft technology and lock quality were substandard, allowing it to be pried open on the spot. How much should a safe for home use to ensure its security? 1. Take necessary precautions to protect your safe. Choose a safe with a quality guarantee. The safe should be placed in a concealed location, ideally in a dedicated hidden compartment. If necessary, reinforce the safe with steel bars or embed it in the wall. It is understood that embedding the safe in the wall and then concealing it with various decorations makes it difficult to find when a thief breaks into the house. Even if it is discovered by a thief, it should not be easily knocked down or moved.
2. Avoid keeping large amounts of cash at home. Large sums of cash for emergencies should be deposited in a bank promptly as a precaution. Furthermore, be mindful of confidentiality and never reveal the location of valuables or cash to anyone.
3. Adopt technical anti-theft measures. In addition to installing security doors and anti-pry locks, alarm devices or "electronic eyes" can be installed in hidden locations such as doors and windows. Once a thief triggers the alarm, it can directly connect to the public security organs to report the crime in a timely manner, while "electronic eyes" can record the thief's entry and theft as evidence.
4. When purchasing a safe, we should also focus on its quality. Look for 3C certification. This is very important. Conversely, attention to the product's appearance and price can be reduced. The choice of lock is paramount. The more complex the lock, the better the anti-theft performance. This is why manufacturers continuously upgrade and optimize locks; after mechanical locks, more advanced smart electronic locks and fingerprint locks have emerged, all to improve anti-theft capabilities. How much should a home safe cost? The material thickness and quality of the safe must be up to standard, and the alarm mechanism must be practical and sensitive enough.
