We ordered a small number of office filing cabinets and didn't want them installed at the factory. Could we do it ourselves? Of course! The manufacturing process for office filing cabinets is now very mature and sophisticated, and installation isn't complicated. If it's a disassembled filing cabinet, the installation time is only about ten minutes. So, what are the general installation methods for standard filing cabinets? What are the standard procedures? Below, the editor from Henan Huadu Times Furniture will share some information with you.
I. Component Installation:
(1) The side panels, doors, front panel, and bottom panel of the office filing cabinet are all double-paneled. The general installation sequence of these components is as follows: surface finishing of the wooden frame → gluing → assembly and bonding → specification and dimension processing → edge banding installation → component processing.
(2) Installation of drawers in the filing cabinet.
(3) Installation of the filing cabinet legs. Assemble the single piece by assembling two leg pieces and one component into a single piece. Assemble the leg by assembling the two single pieces and two sheaths into a complete leg, and then install the corner brackets.
II. Installation of side panels, top panels, and front panels:
Apply adhesive to the pre-drilled holes in the side panels, top panel, and front panel, and insert the round templates for installation. According to the filing cabinet's structural diagram, when installing the side panels, top panel, and front panel, ensure the drawer slides and crossbars at the slides are properly installed to provide longitudinal positioning for the drawers. Install the back panel.
III. Install the cabinet and legs:
Connect the tripod to the base plate using wood screws through the pre-drilled holes in the tripod's sheath.
IV. Door Installation:
Cut hinge grooves at appropriate locations on the top and bottom of the outer side of the door, with the grooves being 0.5mm deeper than the total thickness of the hinge. Then, use wood screws to fix the hinges to the side panel and the door panel respectively, and open and close the door several times to check the installation quality. Adjust the size of the gap between the door cap and the bottom edge of the drawer panel as needed until it is suitable.
V. Install edge banding strips:
Smooth the top and sides of the side panel. Use a combination of nails and glue to seal the edges with 10mm thick edge banding strips. The strips should be 22mm wide, the same thickness as the side panel. To prevent small items from rolling off the filing cabinet, glue and nail another edge banding strip to the back of the panel when sealing the top edge of the side panel. Join the edge banding strips at a 45° bevel.
VI. Install handles
Use sandpaper to polish the surface and all calibration lines, removing burrs, glue residue and other contaminants.
