Height-adjustable office chairs are ubiquitous in offices, favored for their greater comfort and convenience compared to regular chairs. However, today we 're not here to highlight their advantages, but rather to remind you of their safety features – be careful, your height-adjustable chair might explode!
Currently, the lifting mechanisms of office chairs on the market generally use three types: hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic. Of these three, hydraulic and mechanical mechanisms are unlikely to explode. The more problematic type is the lower-end pneumatic type. Pneumatic chairs contain a cylinder, and the piston-driven rod inside the cylinder moves up and down to control the chair's height. Reputable manufacturers use nitrogen filling, with a concentration generally above 99% and a pressure of around one or two atmospheres. Some unscrupulous manufacturers, in order to reduce costs, even use high-pressure air, which is why explosions are more likely.
So how can we effectively prevent pneumatic chairs from exploding? Here are some things to keep in mind. If you do these things, pneumatic chair explosions will definitely not happen.
First: Always buy a height-adjustable chair from a reputable manufacturer. Do not be tempted by cheap prices and buy inferior products. This is fundamental.
Second: When using the chair, do not repeatedly raise and lower it continuously.
Third: If you are not a professional, do not disassemble the cylinder, and do not place the chair near anything that is too hot, such as a heater or oven.
Fourth: After a period of use, it should be inspected by professionals in a timely manner. If cracks or signs of loosening are found, it should be repaired or replaced promptly.
Although pneumatic lift chairs have the potential to explode, the chances of them exploding are extremely small if you purchase a reliable, high-quality chair from a reputable manufacturer, avoid frequent use, and perform regular checks.
